Global Technology Transfer Group Announces Patent Availability Related to Instant Messaging Technology

Portland, Oregon (July, 2010) — Global Technology Transfer Group, Inc. (GTT) announces the availability of the IM Session Initiation Patent.

The patent discloses methods of using email address identifiers to connect separate computers over a network, as well as detecting whether an endpoint is connected to the network. Due to the strong priority date and the broad claims, the IM Session Initiation portfolio has wide application to instant messaging implementations. The patent is widely applicable to available messenger systems that use an email handle to connect to an end computer node through a server, including desktop, web-based and mobile-based messaging platforms.

“This patent incorporates essential protocol technologies in use today when making connections between participants. In today’s social networking and collaborative environments the patented technology represents a key enabling component”, states Michael Lubitz, CEO and Chairman of GTT.
